My paintings purport to relay the concept of reviving life into living creatures through superb technology, or machines. I draw creatures ranging from tigers, toki (Japanese crested ibis), crayfish and many more... These creatures are revived, and re-start to breathe and regain their well-being. Nonetheless, all of these creatures will have a machine installed in their bodies and regain their lives. This is my message of “life” towards all living creatures.
I use a thin 0.3mm pen when I work on my drawings. These pens become worn down or broken after I work on my drawings. After a while, I am left with a mountain of pens. I can throw away these pens once they are no longer useful. I overlap this image equivalent to myself. I almost started crying. Is there any way that I can rejuvenate these pens (or myself) back into real life? I soon became haunted by the “gray” image that are depicted by these broken or worn down pens. A vivid black line can be drawn when a pen is new, and after a while, these lines transform into thick, bleeding black lines as the nib is slightly flattened. Finally, a faint, withering gray lines come into life... Almost like a sumie, or a Japanese ink- wash painting. I have evolved my artistic representation into an new form of painting, using pens. A black pen would typically draw a black line, but a worn-down or broken nib would give a slight difference in the tone of color.
